Tata Motors experienced reduced sales across multiple categories in August 2024. It sold 71,693 units (domestic and international) in total last month, which was considerably less than the previous year's 78,010 units. Out of the total, the company delivered 70,006 units in the domestic market, representing a drop of 8% year-on-year from the 76,261 units sold in August 2023. Talking about the passenger vehicles, the manufacturer supplied 44,142 units domestically and 44,486 units overall, both showing a decrease of 3% year-on-year. It sold 5,935 electric vehicles in August of this year, registering a reduction of 5% from the previous year's 6,236 EVs. Tata Motors August 2024 Sales: More Highlights
The domestic automaker's overall commercial sales decreased by 15% year-on-year to 27,207 units. In the home market, the sales also fell 16% year-on-year. For comparison, the manufacturer sold 25,864 CVs in the domestic market last month, compared to 25,864 CVs sold in August last year.
Recent Developments
Following the launch of the Curvv EV last month, Tata Motors has now introduced the SUV Coupe's ICE edition in India. The model costs between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17.7 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in two turbo-petrol and one diesel engine configuration. The 1.2-litre Turbo-petrol unit churns out 118bhp and 170Nm, while the new 1.2-litre T-GDi Turbo-petrol mill delivers 123bhp and 225Nm, which is 5bhp and 55Nm more than the former. The 1.5-litre diesel unit, on the other hand, generates 116bhp and 260Nm.

Talking of the Curvv EV's specifications, Tata provides two battery choices (45kWh and 55kWh) and a liquid-cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMS) for the vehicle. Though the torque of 215Nm remains the same across both versions, the power rating stands at 148bhp in the smaller battery and 165bhp in the larger battery. The range of these battery packs is 502 kilometres (45kWh) and 585 kilometres (55kWh), respectively. Price-wise, the Curvv EV retails between Rs 17.49 lakh and Rs 21.99 lakh (both ex-showroom).
