Tata Motors Crosses 1.50 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone for Electric Vehicles in India
Tata has plans to launch four new EVs – Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and Avinya EV – by FY2026 in India. The first two will be launched by March 2025, while the last two will be available by March 2026.
Tata Motors's electric division has surpassed the 1.50 lakh-unit sales milestone in the Indian market. This comes after two of its electric vehicles – the Nexon EV and the Punch EV – secured a 5-star safety rating in the most recent round of Bharat NCAP crash test results. Compared to FY2023 (50,000 units), FY2024 fared better as the company sold 73,800 electric vehicles (EV), denoting a 48 per cent year-on-year growth. Tata has plans to launch four new EVs – Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and Avinya EV – by FY2026 in India. The first two will be launched by March 2025, while the latter two will be available by March 2026.
Tata's first SUV coupe, the Currv EV will rival the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. It will be based on the acti.ev dedicated electric car platform that debuted on the Punch EV. Though the powertrain details are under wraps, it is expected to have a range of about 500km.

Based on the same platform as other Tata EVs, the electrified Harrier could pack a 60kWh battery pack, yielding a 400 to 500km range. Tata's Harrier EV was recently spotted testing in India, indicating that the upcoming EV will get an all-wheel drive option with electric motors – one on the front and another on the rear axle. Upon arrival, the Tata Harrier EV will lock horns with the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8.
Like the Harrier EV, the other two EVs – Sierra EV, and Avinya EV – will likely come with an electric all-wheel-drive system. The Tata Avinya EV will ride on JLR’s shared EMA (Electric Modular Architecture) platform, while the Sierra EV is expected to use the company's new acti.ev architecture.
