Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) announced sales figures for January 2023. The two-wheeler manufacturer clocked an overall sales of 84,966 units in the previous month, compared to 70,092 units in the same month last year. Last month, the firm dispensed 66,209 units in the local market and shipped 18,757 units abroad. Interestingly, compared to the same month in the previous year, SMIPL recorded a 21.2% year-on-year growth in January 2023. Meanwhile, Suzuki Motorcycle India also revealed the Gixxer 250 FFV, its first flex fuel vehicle, at the 2023 Auto Expo. The motorcycle will come with an internally revamped engine, which can work with a variety of ethanol-based fuels (E20 to E85). However, its appearance, features, and the majority of hardware components will remain the same as the standard model.

Sharing his views on the sales performance, Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “The two-wheeler industry continues to experience some headwinds. However, we at Suzuki Motorcycle India continue to experience robust demand resulting in a significant double-digit year-on-year growth of 21.2% in January 2023. ''
He further said, ''We are grateful to our customers, dealer partners, and staff members who supported us to carry on this sales momentum. We are confident that we will keep experiencing steady demand both from the domestic and overseas markets in the future too”.

Not just SMIPL but several two-wheeler makers showcased their models in India last month. 2023 TVS iQube ST, New Kratos X, Updated Kratos R E-Bikes, and Liger Self-Balancing Electric Scooters are some of the top two-wheelers which were showcased at the Auto Expo. Looking at the Electric two-wheeler booming in the market, several manufacturers are planning to bring some new products. Reportedly, Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) has plans to produce an electric scooter for the Indian market. The expected EV by the firm is likely to hit our Indian roads by 2024.
