Skoda has outlined aggressive plans to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in India. At the 64th SIAM convention, Chairman & CEO Klaus Zellmer announced the company's plan to introduce five new fully electric models to the Indian market. Although Zellmer didn't provide a specific launch timeline, Skoda confirmed that the Enyaq EV, showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, will be part of this lineup. The exact variant for India remains unclear.

In addition to the Enyaq, Skoda plans to introduce a Global SUV BEV, likely the Elroq. Though it hasn't debuted globally yet, this model is expected to arrive in its top-spec 85x configuration, offering all-wheel drive, 295bhp, and an 85 kWh battery pack. Skoda projects the Elroq could deliver a range of up to 560 km.

Skoda is also preparing to launch its first subcompact SUV, the Kylaq, in India. The new-generation Kodiaq will follow by the first half of 2025.

Skoda Kylaq to Launch Soon?

In India, Skoda Kylaq has been spotted testing a few times. It shares the MQB-A0-IN platform with the Kushaq and Slavia. The Kylaq is expected to feature a fully digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, a sunroof, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. For safety, it may include a 360-degree camera, ADAS, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, multiple airbags, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

To take advantage of tax benefits for sub-4-meter SUVs in India, the Kylaq will likely use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine. This engine could come with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, producing 114bhp and 178Nm of torque.

The Skoda Kylaq will make its global debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. Production is expected to start at the end of this year, with the SUV launching in India in February 2025.
