Scorpio, XUV700 Help Mahindra Clock Highest-Ever SUV Domestic Sales in July 2023

Mahindra reported selling 36,205 SUVs during July 2023 – the highest-ever monthly sales in the Indian market, experiencing a 30 per cent increase in SUV sales in comparison to July 2022.

Mahindra & Mahindra announced that it has sold 66,124 units, including exports, in July 2023. This marks a growth of 18 per cent over the same period last year. The Indian manufacturer also reported selling 36,205 SUVs during the said period – the highest-ever monthly sales in the Indian market, witnessing a 30 per cent increase in SUV sales in comparison to July 2022. Mahindra sold a total of 37,519 SUVs in July 2023. Meanwhile, the company managed to sell 1,36,377 passenger vehicles in the Indian market, experiencing a sales growth of 31 per cent on a year-to-date basis in comparison to the same period last year. 

The carmaker also marked a remarkable feat with the delivery of the 1,00,000th XUV700, their flagship model. Mahindra says that the XUV700 is the fastest SUV in its portfolio to have achieved this milestone in less than 20 months. The first 50,000 units of the XUV700 were delivered within a year of its launch, while the rest 50,000 units were sold in the remaining 8 months.

In terms of market rivalry, the two-row version of the XUV700 takes on the Tata Harrier, the MG Hector, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Hyundai Creta, etc. Whereas, the three-row variant competes with the MG Hector Plus, the Hyundai Alcazar, and more. Also in July 2023, the Scorpio SUV achieved its highest-ever sales in a month since its launch, according to the statement issued by the company. 

Mahindra & Mahindra Sales Performance in July: How Did LCVs Fare So Far?

In the commercial vehicles and 3-wheelers segment, light commercial vehicles (LCVs) under 2 tons witnessed a decrease of 8 per cent in sales, however, LCVs above 3.5 tons and Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MHCVs) experienced a 23 per cent increase in sales.

In July 2023, Mahindra's total exports stood at 2,540 units, a 9 per cent decrease from the previous year. However, overall sales performance remained comparatively stable, with only a decline of 8 per cent on a year-to-date basis in comparison to the same period last year. 

Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Truck Concept Global Debut on August 15

In recent news, Mahindra announced that it will reveal a new pickup concept on August 15, continuing its tradition of introducing new products on India's Independence Day every year. The homegrown carmaker teased the Global Pik Up Vision on its social media accounts, suggesting that it will be a concept pickup truck modelled on the popular Mahindra Scorpio N.

Codenamed Z121, the upcoming pickup will be based on the Scorpio N platform but will have a wider wheelbase to allow for a bigger cargo bed. The production version of the model is expected to arrive by early 2025. Upon launch, the Global Pik Up Vision will offer a reasonably priced alternative to pickup category mainstays, such as the Isuzu V-Cross as well as the Toyota Hilux.
