After discontinuing multiple models from its lineup, Renault India plans to fill the void by introducing four new ones by 2022.

Groupe Renault has announced its 'Drive the Future' mid-term plan for the 2017-2022 period. Renault's plan for the Indian market features four new launches, with one of them confirmed to be a compact MPV.

The term ‘compact’ has become synonym to sub 4-metre vehicles in the Indian automotive market, and Thierry Bolloré, Chief Competitive Officer of Groupe Renault confirmed the dimensions of the upcoming MPV. He said, “ We will launch a compact MPV in the Indian market, a car to transport many adults but in less than 4 metres length”.

As already confirmed by Renault-Nissan, the two companies will share the CMF-A platform for their future vehicles in India. Expect Renault’s compact MPV to be based on the same architecture.

Renault already has the Lodgy in the MPV segment, but that has failed to generate good sale figures. Recently, Renault also confirmed the discontinuation of Pulse, Scala and Fluence - all of which were underperformers in the French company’s Indian lineup. Renault India’s portfolio consists of four vehicles - Kwid, Lodgy, Duster, and the upcoming Captur.

Groupe Renault did not provide a concrete timeframe as to when the new compact MPV, or any of the other three new models for that matter, will be ready for launch.
