New ICAT approved e-rickshaw launched with service support from crossroads

Ok Play India, a company manufacturing high density plastic products for the Indian automotive industry since 2003 has launched a new electric rickshaw, called the E-Raaja. The E-Raaja is a completely locally developed, ICAT approved electric rickshaw that caters to the Make In India initiative and aims to serve as a pollution free last mile transport solution for commuters.

Rajan Handa, Managing Director, OK Play India, present at the launch of the E-Raaja, said, “We are extremely happy to launch the E-Raaja at a time when India is moving towards pollution free vehicular transport solutions. The next generation ICAT approved, OK Play E-Rickshaw, E-Raaja is India’s first 100% indigenously designed and developed, zero emission plastic body Green E-Rickshaws to be manufactured in India which meets the highest Global standards of emissions. It is the result of more than two years of in-house R&D by our dedicated research and design team,”

Sharing the marketing plans Mr. Handa said “In the initial phase, OK Play will simultaneously launch their E-Rickshaws in North and South India. With a production capacity of 3,00,000 E-Rickshaws per year, OK Play has existing two manufacturing units - One at Sohna (Haryana) to cater to North Indian market and the other in Ranipet (Tamil Nadu) to cater to South Indian market.”

Talking of the market size, Handa said, “By conservative estimates, there are over 10 million cycle rickshaws and 7.5 million auto rickshaws in the country, which could potentially be replaced over a period of time. Thus, there is a huge market opportunity, which theoretically could run into hundreds of thousands of crores.”

All E-Raajas can be insured as well with a leading insurance company while Ok Play has tied up with crossroads for free first year service and tie ups with an extensive network of garages for servicing and repair of e-rickshaws along with overnight charging. Crossroads will also provide support in terms of puncture repair at a minimal cost of Rs. 20 while free towing will be offered for the first five-kilometers in case of breakdowns.

“These air and noise pollution- free Green E –Rickshaws are OK PLAY’s humble contribution towards creating a pollution free world,” said, Rajan Handa.
