Nissan Motor India Surpasses Export Milestone of 10 Lakh Units

Nissan is expected to introduce the new X-Trail SUV in India sometime soon. Upon its arrival, the SUV will compete with the Hyundai Tucson, the Skoda Kodiaq, and the Jeep Meridian.

Nissan Motor India has accomplished an incredible feat by shipping more than 10 lakh units (1.1 million) since the beginning of its export operations. The milestone unit was the Magnite SUV, which left the Ennore Kamarajar Port in Tamil Nadu on June 29, 2024. Last month, the company sold 2,107 units in the domestic market, a 17.44% decline from the previous year's 2,552 units. However, exports grew significantly to 8,177 units from 3,280 units in June of last year, marking a staggering 149% growth. All in all, Nissan delivered 10,284 units in June 2024, showing a notable year-on-year increase of 76.34%.

According to reports, the company has sold more than 1,40,000 units of the Magnite SUV in both local and foreign markets since its launch in December 2020. For those unaware, the Japanese automaker's Indian lineup only includes the Magnite. While an official launch date has yet to be announced, the X-Trail SUV is expected to join this range soon. Until then, let's learn more about the Magnite available in India.

Nissan Magnite: Powertrain

The Magnite is offered with two engine choices: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated (NA) with 71bhp and 96Nm, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol with 99bhp and 160Nm. The former includes a CVT option that reduces torque to 152Nm, while a 5-speed manual transmission is standard. The naturally aspirated petrol engine now comes with a 5-speed AMT.

Nissan Magnite: Features

The Magnite's features include a 7-inch digital instrument panel, auto air conditioning with rear vents, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The equipment list of the XV and XV Premium trims also includes wireless phone charging, JBL speakers, puddle lamps, and ambient lighting. For safety, the Nissan SUV has a TPMS, electronic stability control (ESC), dual front airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a hill-start assist.

Nissan Magnite: Price and Rivals

The Nissan Magnite is currently priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 11.07 lakh in India (both, ex-showroom). It competes with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, the Kia Sonet, and the Tata Nexon.
