Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. managed to sell 94,219 units in FY 2022–2023—a 23 per cent increase. This includes 60,608 units for exports and 33,611 units for domestic wholesale. Total sales increased by 73 per cent to 10,519 units in March 2023, with exports, increasing by 45 per cent YoY to 7,259 units. The domestic sales figures have remained stable while exports have increased significantly year over year. Since its rollout in the Indian market, the Nissan Magnite has been a significant player in its segment, and the "Make in India, Make for the World" SUV has been the driving force behind Nissan's expansion in the country, generating over 1 lakh customer reservations in both domestic and export markets.

Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said, “FY 2022-23 was a challenging year for the auto industry with challenges of shortage of semi-conductors and inflation affecting the cost of ownership, Nissan delivered a strong performance on these challenges with the growth of 23 per cent with volume of 94,219 units, on the strength of growth in exports sales and sustained domestic sales. Nissan took several measures to improve customer connect including strengthening supply chains to meet delivery commitments, as customer centricity is core to our business. Nissan Magnite, our flagship model played the leading role in this growth story, we look forward towards a stronger future by continuously adapting and innovating to meet customer requirements. Nissan recently showcased 3 premium SUVs from its global portfolio in India, of which some are currently undergoing local suitability tests over multiple terrains for their launch, with the X-Trail intended to be the first model to be launched.”

Nissan India: Future Plans
With a recent investment plan of $600 million (roughly Rs 5,300 crore) announced by its Global COO Ashwani Gupta, Nissan Motor India has highlighted robust plans as it commences its shift to the next phase in India. The Japanese auto manufacturer will launch three new models, including two C-segment SUVs and one A-SUV for EVs. Moreover, the firm added that the KICKS SUV had naturally reached the end of its lifecycle at its manufacturing plant in Chennai, India and that it is tweaking its product portfolio to best suit the changing needs of the Indian customer.
