Nexon, Tigor and More Help Tata Motors Record 66% EV Sales Growth in May 2023

Tata Motors exported 106 passenger vehicles in May 2023, compared to 51 units at the same time in the previous year, representing a YoY growth of 108%. Let's take a detailed look at the sales performance of the homegrown automaker in diverse segments.

Tata Motors has released its sales data for May 2023. The homegrown carmaker sold a total of 74,973 units in the domestic and overseas markets in May 2023, which is down from 76,210 units in May 2022, representing a YoY fall of 2%. However, in the PV space, Tata Motors recorded considerable growth last month. It sold 45,878 passenger vehicles in the domestic market in May 2023, which is a 6% boost from the 43,341 units dispensed at the same time in 2022. Both cars with internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EV) are included in it. Speaking of Passenger vehicle exports, the firm saw a rise of 108%. When compared to the 51 units exported in May 2022, the company dispatched 106 units in the last month. The overall sales of passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, reached 45,984 units, representing an increase of 6%.

Tata Motors Electric Car Sales May 2023

Tata Motors saw a significant upsurge in sales of electric vehicles, going from 3,505 units in May 2022 to 5,805 units in May 2023, denoting a 66% rise. According to the reports, the Nexon EV Prime, the Nexon EV Max, the Tiago EV, and the Tigor EV contributed to this sales growth. 

Tata Motors Commercial Sales May 2023 

In the commercial vehicle segment, the homegrown manufacturer reported a total sales of 28,989 units in the past month, which is down from 32,818 units in May 2022, representing a drop of 12%. Domestically, Tata Motors dispatched a total of 27,570 vehicles in May 2023, registering a fall of 12% from 31,414 units sold a year ago.

Tata Altroz iCNG Launched in India

In a recent development, Tata Motors launched the Altroz iCNG in India at a starting price of Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the first car in India to employ Tata Motors' special twin-cylinder CNG technology. In our market, the model will be accessible in six different variants: XE, XM+, XM+(S), XZ, XZ+(S), and XZ+O(S). In terms of features, the new vehicle will have a voice-assisted motorised sunroof, wireless charging, an air purifier, and more.
