Tata Motors Sales Figures: April 2024

In April 2024, Tata Motors sold 47,983 passenger vehicles. This comprises passenger cars sold in the local market and those exported by the company. It also reflects an increase in total sales by 876 units, corresponding to a 1.85 per cent year-on-year increase in monthly passenger vehicle sales. In April last year, Tata Motors sold 47,107 passenger vehicles (domestic + export).

Furthermore, the manufacturer sold 47,883 passenger cars in the Indian market last month. In April 2023, Tata Motors' domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 47,001 units. As a result, the year-on-year domestic sales have increased by 876 units or 1.86 per cent. Tata Motors' edge over most of its competitors is enhanced by its 'New Forever' portfolio, which includes petrol, diesel, CNG, and battery-powered models. Almost 29 per cent of the record 5.83 lakh unit sales in FY2024 came from CNG and EV cars.

The manufacturer saw a decline in sales of electric cars in April this year, despite offering several popular and affordable models such as the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV, and Punch EV. Compared to 6,516 units sold in the same month last year, Tata Motors sold 6,364 electric cars last month. As a result, the sales of electric vehicles decreased by a slight 2 per cent.

Tata Motors is planning to launch the awaited Curvv SUV soon. The model has been spied testing in India several times with exterior and interior elements like a coupe-style roofline, sleek door handles, twin screens (digital driver display and infotainment), and a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls.

The ICE Curvv is likely to use the same powertrain as the Nexon, which has a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 118bhp and 170Nm and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with 113bhp and 260Nm. The gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 7-speed DCT. The Curvv EV, on the other hand, is expected to come in both single and dual-motor configurations, with the choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. It is expected to have a range of 400-500 km on a single charge.
