Citroen Basalt Incoming: Key Details
In other news, the production-ready Citroen Basalt Coupe is presently undergoing rigorous testing on Indian roads ahead of its planned launch in the second half of 2024. With some notable differences from the Basalt Vision concept, such as the absence of features like projector LED headlights and alloy wheels, the most recent test mule sighted appears to be a mid-spec model. Industry rumours, however, indicate that the Coupe SUV would probably be available in a higher-end trim level with all the upscale comforts and equipment.
A 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine powering the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross will likely power the Basalt. When paired with a manual or automatic gearbox, this powerplant can produce up to 108bhp of maximum power and 189Nm of peak torque. The company may also release an electric version of the vehicle soon.
As an alternative to the Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and Hyundai Creta, the SUV will go up against the soon-to-be-launched Tata Curvv. The Basalt is expected to carry an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 8 lakh. As of now, the automaker's India portfolio comprises models like C3, eC3, C3 Aircross, and the C5 Aircross.
