MG Motor India and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. have teamed up to expand India's EV charging network. Together, the two companies will build 50kW and 60kW DC Fast Chargers at select highway and urban locations as part of their new partnership, hoping to improve the convenience of EV ownership by increasing the accessibility of charging alternatives.
Commenting on the occasion, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer, MG Motor India said, 'Along with our ecosystem partners, we are working to create a vast network of EV charging stations, in addition to battery recycling & battery second life solutions for end-to-end sustainability of electric vehicles. Our partnership with HPCL is yet another step to expanding the EV charging infrastructure in India to energize and enhance customer confidence in EVs. HPCL's vast network and significant presence in India will ensure that existing and prospective EV users across the country have convenient access to our charging solutions.'

MG Motor India and HPCL Collaborate for EV Infrastructure
According to the British manufacturer, EV owners will be able to use the chargers through the MyMG mobile app. The two firms will install CCS2-compliant chargers at all of the locations. Over 15,000 public and private chargers have reportedly been installed by MG so far in India in partnership with companies including Tata Power Delta Electronics and Fortum. Additionally, the automaker announced collaborations with Jio-BP and Bharat Petroleum to build EV chargers in public spaces.
HPCL has also teamed up with several different companies to develop a nationwide network of EV charging stations at its petrol pumps. These companies comprise original equipment manufacturers and charging service providers. HPCL reports that it currently has more than 3,600 charging stations across the country, and by the end of 2024, it hopes to have 5,000.

Sharing his thoughts on the partnership, Shri Rajdip Ghosh, Chief General Manager, Highway Retailing, HPCL remarked, 'Through this partnership with MG Motor India, HPCL shall leverage the vehicle base of MG to increase the utilisation of its chargers installed across India. HPCL will analyze charger usage to improve customer experience and strategic expansion in EV Charging infrastructure at places. This synergy will help in the growth of the EVs in the coming days.'
