Mercedes Benz launched the A-Class on the 30th of May and barely two weeks later news is out that Mercedes has received over 400 confirmed bookings for the A-Class as on June 10th, 2013.
The overwhelming response to the new A-Class stands testimony to the fact that Mercedes Benz has been able to strike a chord with their customers again. Launched at an introductory price of Rs 21.93 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the A-Class was launched in both the petrol and diesel variants.
The third generation A-Class is based on the German automaker MFA (Modular Front Wheel drive Architecture) platform and came to India after it was launched globally last year.
Eberhard Kern, Managing director and CEO, Mercedes Benz India commented saying, “Already a global sensation, the success of the A-Class in India reiterates Mercedes-Benz’s stand that young India has now come of age and Indians who lead a global lifestyle today, value trendy design, dynamic driving and quality when it comes to their personal mobility preferences. The overwhelming success of the A-Class inspires us to push ahead even more aggressively with our New Generation Cars for the Indian market.”
Mercedes Benz India has been silent and watchful as its two contenders battled it out in the luxury car segment. Finally, the German car manufacturer has upped its ante but BMW has the 1-series and Audi, the A1 and from what we know; both are coming to India. In short, the battle is still on!
