Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Becomes Expensive by Rs 15,000 in India; Check New Prices

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, which claimed the title of India’s best-selling car in January 2025, has seen a price hike of up to Rs 15,000. The VXi 1.0 AGS, ZXi 1.2 AGS, ZXi+ 1.2 AGS, and ZXi+ AGS dual-tone variants have experienced the highest price increase, while other models, including the CNG variants, have seen a smaller hike of Rs 10,000. As a result, the Wagon R’s pricing now spans from Rs 5.64 lakh to Rs 7.47 lakh (ex-showroom). For those unaware, Maruti Suzuki's best-selling hatchback celebrated its 25th anniversary in the market last year.
Since its debut in 1999, the Wagon R has undergone significant evolution, with multiple facelifts and generational updates. The third-generation model launched in 2019 and was given a mid-cycle update in 2022 to stay competitive. Let's now dive into the key specifications of this legendary hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: Powertrain
The hatchback comes with two petrol and a Petrol-CNG powertrain options. The 1.0-litre petrol engine produces 55.92bhp and 92.1Nm, while the 1.2-litre petrol engine delivers 88.5bhp and 113Nm. It is offered with a choice of a 5-speed manual (MT) or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Recent Price Increase on Maruti Suzuki Models
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, launched in November, has seen its prices increase for the first time. The starting price is now Rs 6.84 lakh, a rise from Rs 6.79 lakh. This increase, up to Rs 10,000, affects all models except the top-end ZXi+ with a manual gearbox. Automatic versions of the VXi and ZXi now cost Rs 10,000 more. Other variants, including those with CNG and majorly manual transmissions (VXi CNG MT, ZXi+ AMT, ZXi CNG MT, VXi MT, and LXi MT), have a Rs 5,000 price increase.

Maruti Suzuki has increased prices of certain fourth-generation Swift models by Rs 5,000. These include the VXi AMT, VXi (O) AMT, ZXi AMT, ZXi+ AMT, and ZXi+ dual-tone AMT. Other Swift versions are unaffected. The Swift now costs between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
