In December, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,37,551 vehicles, which is a 1.28% decrease year-on-year compared to 1,39,347 units delivered at the same time last year. It further reported monthly sales of 1,04,778 passenger cars, showing a 6.45% YoY drop from the 1,12,010 PVs delivered during the corresponding period last year. In addition, the company's overall domestic sales, which include third-party suppliers, commercial vehicles, and passenger cars, decreased by 5.86% to 1,10,667 units last month from 1,17,551 units sold in the same period the previous year. Moreover, in calendar year 2023, the company achieved its first-ever annual sales milestone of 2 million units, which comprised its highest-ever calendar year international shipments of 2,69,046 vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki Sales: Segment-wise December Sales Breakdown
The sales at the Indo-Japanese company fell across all sub-segments. This includes a compact sector (Alto, S-Presso models) that saw an almost 74% YoY decline from 9765 units to 2,557 units in December, as well as a mid-size category (Ciaz) that saw a 57.6% drop from 1,154 cars to 489 units last month. It also includes a lineup of compact vehicles, including the Baleno, the Celerio, the Dzire, the Ignis, the Swift, the Tour S, and the Wagon R, with total sales of 45,741 units in December 2023, showing a 20.5% YoY decrease from 57,502 units sold in 2022.
In contrast to this, the performance of utility cars such as the Brezza, the Ertiga, the Fronx, the Grand Vitara, the Invicto, the Jimny, the S-Cross, and the XL6 increased in the last month. Maruti Suzuki reported selling 45,957 utility vehicles in December 2023, which exhibits a tremendous 39.2% year-on-year rise over 33,008 units delivered in the same period last year.

Maruti Suzuki Sales: Some More Highlights
Between April and December of FY 2023–24, the automaker delivered 15,51,292 units, which is more than 1 lakh vehicles than the same time prior fiscal year. Maruti Suzuki's exports increased last month, going from 21,796 units shipped in December 2022 to 26,884 units in December 2023. In total, the company exported 2,69,046 units in CY 2023.
