Maruti Suzuki India Registers 4% YoY Sales Dip in August; Sells 1.82 Lakh Units

In August 2024, the sales of compact Maruti Suzuki models like the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift fell 20% to 58,051 units, down from 72,451 units in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki India recorded a 4% decline with its total sales of about 1.82 lakh units sold in August. The company sold over 1.89 lakh cars in the same month last year. In August, the manufacturer's domestic passenger vehicle wholesales decreased by 8% to 1.43 lakh units, compared to around 1.56 lakh units sold in the same month in 2023. Furthermore, sales of the Alto and S-Presso models, which are a part of the mini segment, plummeted in August, from 12,209 units in 2023 to 10,648 units this year. Likewise, the sales of compact models, which include the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, fell 20% to 58,051 units from 72,451 units in the same month, last year. Maruti Suzuki Sales Figures: August 2024

The utility vehicle (UV) segment, however, which comprises the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx, and XL6 models, saw sales of 62,684 units last month, an increase compared to 58,746 units sold during the same time, last year. Compared to the 11,859 units sold last August, Maruti Suzuki sold 10,985 Eeco units last month, registering a slight decline. Moreover, 2,495 units of the light commercial vehicle Super Carry were sold in the past month, compared to 2,564 units in August 2023. As far as exports are concerned, the leading carmaker witnessed growth with 26,003 units exported last month as opposed to 24,614 units in the same month the previous year.

Maruti Suzuki Opens 500th Nexa Showroom

Maruti Suzuki India inaugurated its 500th Nexa sales outlet in Bengaluru, Karnataka. With this, the company's sales network (Arena, Nexa, and Commercial) expanded to 3,925 outlets in 2,577 towns and cities. The company is expanding its Nexa network to include tier 2 and tier 3 cities. For the uninitiated, Maruti Suzuki established the Nexa retail channel in July 2015 to attract new customers. After establishing this premium sales arm, the company opened 100 Nexa stores in 94 locations in less than a year.

With sales of about 5.61 lakh vehicles in FY 23–24, Nexa reported a 54% increase in sales compared to the previous fiscal year, outpacing market growth. Nexa outlets account for around 30% of Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales. Moreover, tier 2 and tier 3 cities account for 37% of Nexa's sales in India. The premium channel sells several well-known Maruti Suzuki models, including the XL6, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Baleno, Ciaz, Jimny, XL6, and Ignis. In other developments, the company has also extended the warranty coverage for its cars. All vehicles now come with a three-year or 1 lakh kilometre warranty. It also offers its customers an extended warranty for three years or 1.6 lakh kilometres.
