Maruti Suzuki has sold 10 lakh units of the Eeco in India. The Eeco, first introduced in 2010, comes in 13 trims, including 5-seater, 7-seater, cargo, tour, and ambulance. According to industry reports, the model has surpassed all other vans in sales and now leads the segment with a 94% market share in India. Feature-wise, the vehicle has reclining front seats and interior air filters for A/C models. Moreover, it is available with more than 11 safety features comprising an engine immobiliser, an illuminated hazard switch, dual airbags, and ABS with EBD. Several market reports suggest that the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is both a productive business car and a comfortable transport. Hence, this could be one of the reasons behind the mammoth sales of this vehicle in India.
Speaking of the powertrain, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series twin-jet petrol engine that generates 80bhp of maximum power output and 104.4Nm of peak torque. This engine is also available in CNG form, where it produces 71bhp and 95Nm. The Eeco is only available with a five-speed manual transmission, and its claimed fuel economy in petrol mode is 19.71km/l and in CNG mode is 26.78km/l.
