Maruti Suzuki India recently announced that its Manesar facility has reached the one crore cumulative production milestone in just 18 years of operation. The popular Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the final model to roll out from the factory. For the uninitiated, Maruti Suzuki's Manesar manufacturing facility, which is spread over 600 acres, commenced its operations in October 2006. It produces several cars including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, WagonR, S-Presso, Dzire, and Celerio. In addition to domestic markets, this Haryana, India-based plant produces cars for export to regions such as Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The total annual production capacity of Maruti Suzuki currently stands at approximately 23.5 lakh units per annum. The company has produced more than 3.11 crore vehicles since its inception.

Commenting on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, 'Crossing the 1 crore cumulative production mark at our Manesar facility is a testament to India’s manufacturing capability and our commitment to the larger national goal of ‘Make in India’. With a strong focus on local manufacturing of components, since its inception, the Company has been able to establish a vast supply chain in India. Through our large-scale manufacturing facilities, we have been able to provide direct and indirect employment to millions of people. Along with our supply chain partners, we will continue to contribute to making the automobile industry in India self-reliant and globally competitive.'
Maruti Suzuki currently offers 17 models in India, including nine through Arena and eight through Nexa outlets. It plans to expand its Indian lineup with a variety of vehicles, including the first-ever electric model, the eVX.
Other Highlights
Maruti Suzuki recently unveiled a Special Edition of the Swift in India, after the launch of the Baleno Regal Edition. Called the Blitz, the new version comes with a free accessories package worth Rs 49,848. It has a rear underbody spoiler, front fog lights, lighted door sills, a rear upper spoiler, door visors, and side body cladding, and is available in three variants of the hatchback.

In terms of sales, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was the most popular model among buyers in September. It sold 17,441 units last month, showing a YoY increase of 28.93% over the 13,528 units supplied in September 2023.
