Mahindra Thar SUV: Engine
Mechanically speaking, the off-roader is available in 4WD and RWD variants. Both a 1.5-litre diesel engine (117bhp and 300Nm) and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (150bhp and 320Nm) are available for the Thar 2WD. Meanwhile, The 4X4 variant offers a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 128bhp and 300Nm and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 150bhp and 320Nm.
Mahindra Thar 5-door Global Debut on 15 August
The widely awaited Mahindra Thar 5-door will make its world debut in South Africa on August 15. Since 1996, Mahindra has been present in South Africa, which is a crucial market for the automaker. Speaking of the powertrain, the Thar 5-door model will be powered by the more potent 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines. Because there is no tax benefit, Mahindra might opt against employing the 1.5-litre engine.

The maximum power output of the 2.0-litre gasoline engine will be 150bhp, while the peak power output of the 2.2-litre diesel will be 130bhp. Dimensionally, the Thar measures 3,985mm long, 1,820mm wide, and 1,855mm tall. Its wheelbase is 2,450mm long, and the ground clearance is 226mm. The upcoming off-roader will have 16-inch or 18-inch wheels, depending on the model.
