Following is a list of automobile manufacturers in India who have announced benefits and help for their respective customer base in the time of the nationwide pandemic, especially with the stringent lockdown in effect in some states
In the second wave of pandemic and the rise in Covid-19 cases, the state government has imposed lockdown in the select region. This has brought down restrictions on citizens and suggests staying indoors. The automobile manufacturers have a very limited time frame to offer service support as well. During this time of distress, most two-wheeler, four-wheeler and equipment manufacturer has come forward to announce the extension of warranty and service schedules that could ease the mind of respective owners and have reduced ownership stress.
Tata Motors (Commercial Vehicles)
Tata Motors has announced an extension on the warranty as well as the free service period for its commercial vehicle customers. The warranty and maintenance contracts that expire between April 1 and June 30, 2021, will be extended up to July 31. This will be a one-month extension, applicable across all states and union territories of India. The extension is valid on the Tata Suraksha AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) as well and the company has announced an extension on in the contract tenure i.e the company shall honour the warranty within AMC for one extra month. Tata has also provided a helpline number for – 1800 209 7979 – for commercial vehicle customers for providing any aftersales assistance.
Renault India
The periodic free service and warranty period expiring between April 1, 2021, and May 31, 2021, has been extended up to July 31, 2021. Renault customers can avail of the benefits of periodic free service and can claim their respective warranty up to July 31, 2021. Renault India also ensures 24x7 roadside assistance alongside the warranty extension support.
Audi India
Audi has announced that the company will extend the standard warranty, extended warranty and service plans of its customers in India. Customers with standard and extended warranty that lapse in the month of April, May or June will be honoured until June 30, 2021. Service plans and schedules that fall in the restricted lockdown period have been taken into consideration as well and the Audi India shall offer support until the end of June 2021.
Ashok Leyland
Ashok Leyland has extended emergency support to vehicles transporting essential services including those transporting oxygen across the country through their 24x7 helpline. The service team also providing help 24x7 to Delhi Transport Corporation. As a part of the Service Mandi initiative, Ashok Leyland formed a task force, for seamless transportation of oxygen and medical supplies across India. This task force communicated via WhatsApp and proactively reached out to customers and oxygen manufacturers to provide any assistance possible through Service Mandi’s network of over 20,000 touchpoints across the country. Additionally, Ashok Leyland has extended the free services schedule for customer vehicles in the warranty period.
Yamaha India
Yamaha India has made an announcement for its customers who will lapse their warranty and miss out on the free service schedule due to the lockdown imposed on a few states. The company has extended the warranty tenure up to and time period for free service schedules up to June 30, 2021. The extension also covers customers who will lapse their extended warranties in the lockdown phase, as well as the annual maintenance contracts.
Honda Two-wheelers India
Customers of Honda Two-wheelers India whose vehicle’s free service, warranty and extended warranty was originally ending between April 1, 2021, and May 31, 2021, will get an extension up to the end of July. Honda has announced that the customers can claim a warranty and avail free service up to July 31, 2021.
Suzuki Two-wheelers India
Suzuki Two-wheeler customers with a warranty and extended warranty that expire between April 1, 2021, and May 31, 2021, get an extension up to July 15, 2021. The free service schedule has been taken into consideration as well and Suzuki Two-wheelers has extended the timeline up to July 15, 2021, where customers can visit the service station as the lockdown restrictions ease in the nation.
KTM and Husqvarna
KTM and Husqvarna motorcycle that is under warranty until May 31, 2021, will get an extension of two months. The companies have announced that the respective customers who would lapse their warranty by the end of May 31, 2021, can claim the warranty until July 31, 2021. The same extension is applicable for periodic service schedule for customers with KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles.
TVS Motors
TVS Motors India has announced an extension of warranty and free service period for its customers in India, TVS customers with pending warranty and free service can avail benefits until June 30, 2021. TVS Motors adds that toll-free helpline number – 18002587111 – will continue to function between 8 am to 8 pm, along with its customer care support – customercare@tvsmotor.com. Roadside assistance (RSA) will be provided free of charge for customers that have the subscription to RSA; however, it will be charged for customers who don’t.
Bajaj
Bajaj customers whose warranty expires between April 1 and May 31, 2021, have been given a two-month-long extension. Respective customers with a valid warranty can claim it until July 31, 2021. The extension is applicable for free periodic services as well and the customers can reschedule an appointment anytime before July 31, when the lockdown eases. The benefits of extended warranty tenure and service period can be availed no only by Bajaj two-wheeler customers, but also by its commercial vehicle customers.
Ceat Tyres
Along with two-wheeler and four-wheeler manufacturers, equipment manufacturers have stepped in to ease customers ownership experience in the tough times of pandemic. Ceat Tyres has made an announcement for customers with tyre warranty ending between April 1, 2021, to June 31, 2021. Ceat Tyres has extended the warranty up to three months i.e the warranty can be claimed until the end of September 2021.
