Mahindra and Ola, the two major Indian auto manufacturers, are set to make Independence Day 2024 more special by introducing their highly awaited models such as the Thar Roxx and the electric motorcycle in India. They will be joined by the British brand BSA, which under the ownership of Classic Legends, will debut here with its flagship model, the Gold Star 650. If you're as curious as we are about what these brand-new machines will bring to India's auto market, here are some details to check out.
Mahindra Thar Roxx
In line with its annual tradition of delighting Indian auto enthusiasts on Independence Day, Mahindra will reveal the price of its new five-door SUV called the Thar Roxx on August 15. Although precise specifications are unknown, the SUV is expected to offer various engine options: a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, a 2.2-litre diesel, and a new 1.5-litre diesel. It will likely include both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive options.

Compared to the 3-door Thar, the new 5-door SUV is longer, featuring two additional doors and an extended wheelbase. It has a new 6-slat grille, blacked-out door handles, LED headlights, C-shaped LED DRLs, squared-off wheel arches, and an LED taillamp setup. The SUV is equipped with automatic climate control, a Harman Kardon sound system, a huge infotainment system, and a digital driver's display (possibly of the 10.25-inch size). Regarding safety, the Thar Roxx is expected to have hill hold and descent control, 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 ADAS. It could cost between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (both, ex-showroom).
Ola Electric Motorcycle
After multiple surprise launches/debuts on August 15 of last year, Ola Electric is back to captivate the electric two-wheeler market with its first motorcycle. According to the previous teasers, the bike will have a sleek and contemporary look. It seems to have a hollow side panel, a single-seat configuration, a TFT dash, a twin-pod LED headlight, and distinctive rearview mirrors. Although mechanical and hardware specifications are unknown, the bike appears to have a telescopic fork suspension, and a battery placed inside a tubular frame. In terms of market rivalry, Ola's first-ever electric motorcycle will compete with either the performance-focused Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 and the Matter Aera or the entry-level Revolt RV400 and the Tork Kratos R.
BSA Gold Star 650
Under the ownership of Classic Legends, the well-known British brand BSA is set to make its Indian debut on August 15 with the Gold Star 650, which is a modern classic motorcycle. The bike has a 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 44bhp and 55Nm, mated to a five-speed transmission. It comes with a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorbers, and a single disc on both ends.
