More than 30,000 units of the Kia Carens MPV have been voluntarily recalled over a faulty digital instrument cluster. The recall was issued to address a possible issue with the digital instrument cluster through a software update. The recall applies to 30,297 units of the Carens manufactured between September 2022 and February 2023, according to the South Korean automobile manufacturer. To resolve this problem, the company will launch a recall campaign for vehicle inspections and free software updates, if deemed necessary.
The recall campaign, according to the company, aims to identify potential errors in the cluster booting process, causing the instrument cluster to go blank. The company says that it will prioritise customer satisfaction and minimise inconvenience throughout the campaign while emphasising that the company conducts regular checks and rigorous testing as governed by Kia's global standard.
