JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and the JSW Group, is making a significant push into the Indian electric vehicle industry (EV). At a recent event named DriEV.Bharat, the manufacturer showcased a suite of technologies geared at simplifying the EV ownership experience and encouraging EV adoption in India. Infrastructure for charging EVs is one of the main concerns for prospective customers. eHUB by MG, a new app from JSW MG Motor India, aims to fix this. Using this one-stop shop, Indian customers can search for, book, and pay for charging stations across the country.
Along with displaying the locations and availability of EV chargers along the route, the app will allow users to select their destination on a map. After the charging session, users can pay for the service via the app. Major charging networks like Adani Total Energies Limited (ATEL), BPCL, Chargezone, HPCL, Shell, Zeon, Glida, Statiq, and Jio-BP are among the collaborations the app boasts of, and more are on the horizon. A larger audience can utilise eHUB because it is accessible in 11 languages and has trip-planning functions. All EV owners, regardless of which model they drive, can use the app for free of cost.

Other Green Initiatives
A few other initiatives have also been launched by MG, such as Project Reviv, which intends to recycle old EV batteries by removing any viable parts and creating energy-saving buildings that can be used in community centres and schools. Another project, EVPedia, offers pertinent data on electric vehicles (EVs), including ownership costs, a repository of governmental regulations, and a collection of articles and research papers.
The automaker has also introduced the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP), a brand-new platform created in collaboration with Jio. The app store on this platform allows users to download educational, entertainment, and gaming apps. It also provides home-to-car functionality. The MG-Jio app may be installed on existing MG EVs without requiring any hardware upgrades. All new apps support over-the-air updates.

MG Windsor India Launch
Over one-third of JSW MG Motor India's sales in recent months have been through electric vehicles (EVs), and the ZS EV is still selling well after four years on the market. The company is preparing for the debut of the Windsor EV, which is scheduled for September. SAIC sells this EV, essentially a crossover, as the Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia. Globally, it comes with two options for battery pack: a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh, with a range of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. It has a permanent magnet synchronous motor, located in the front axle, though it is unclear which variant will be offered in our market. Pricing-wise, the Windsor EV is expected to fall between the Comet and the ZS EV in India, with an expected ex-showroom price range of Rs 15-20 lakh.
