Srivastava was the only Indian guy among 43 people who were awarded the prize by Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg, Germany
Volkswagen Group recently awarded 43 candidates with Best Apprentice Award at its Wolfsburg plant in Germany. One of the winners is Anshuman Srivastava from Uttar Pradesh – the only Indian lad to be among the lot. The programme was an attempt by Volkswagen to recognise apprentices from different parts of the world, and the award is the biggest honour from Volkswagen Group for consistently delivering excellence throughout the tenure of the programme.
Anshuman was a part of the first batch of the Volkswagen Mechatronics Apprenticeship Programme that started three years ago in 2011. Anshuman will now return to India and will join Volkswagen Pune Plant’s Body Shop. There he will be a member of the team working on Electrical Planning which includes E-plan software, PLC, Robotics, Drive Systems and Automation.
On Srivastava’s feat, Mr. Peter Raussendorf, Executive Director HR & Admin, Volkswagen India Private Limited said, “Volkswagen started the Mechatronics Apprenticeship Programme in India with the vision to create skilled workforce for our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. With the recent successful passing out of the first batch that has been absorbed entirely by Volkswagen Pune Plant, and the honour bestowed on Anshuman on the global scale, we are confident that our efforts in this direction are paying off.”
Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, Dr. Horst Neumann, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Human Resources, Organization and IT, and Mr. Bernd Osterloh, President of the Global Group Works Council presented the winners their awards.
