Hyundai Motor India Records Highest-ever Sales in CY23, Sells Over 6 Lakh Units

Hyundai India clocked its highest-ever domestic sales in a calendar year in 2023, selling over 6.02 lakh units, a 9 per cent increase over the previous year's 5.53 lakh units. In terms of exports, there was a 10 per cent surge with 1.64 lakh units in 2023, up from 1.48 lakh units in 2022.

Within the ever-evolving automobile sector, Hyundai has achieved a noteworthy milestone in 2023. The renowned automaker has driven up sales, which in 2023 alone amounted to an impressive 7.66 lakh units. This remarkable number has signaled a strong 9 per cent rise for the firm and a new sales record. According to a statement from the manufacturer, the company sold 7.01 lakh units in total in 2022. The carmaker clocked its highest-ever domestic sales in a calendar year in 2023, selling over 6.02 lakh units, a 9 per cent increase over the previous year's 5.53 lakh units. Furthermore, in terms of exports, there was a 10 per cent surge with 1.64 lakh units in 2023, up from 1.48 lakh units in 2022. The South Korean brand recorded total sales of 56,450 units in December 2023, with 42,750 units sold domestically and 13,700 units sold internationally.

Commenting on the previous month's sales figures, Tarun Garg, COO, HMIL, said, “In the momentous year of 2023, Hyundai Motor India witnessed a watershed moment by achieving its highest-ever domestic sales of 6,02,111 units, achieving a respectable 9% growth over LY sales volume. HMIL has not just kept pace but surpassed industry growth (estimated at around 8.2%), a testament to customers choosing brand Hyundai as their preferred mobility brand. Also in 2023, we proactively expanded our annual production capacity by 50,000 units to meet the increasing demand from our customers.”

Upcoming Hyundai Cars in 2024

Hyundai possesses a significant presence in nearly all automotive segments within the nation's market, providing a diverse selection of dependable and high-performing products ranging from high-end electrified vehicles to entry-level hatchbacks. The maker plans to introduce models such as the Creta facelift, the Ioniq 6, the new Kona Electric, the Alcazar facelift, and the new-gen Tucson in India this year. Among these, the first model to go on sale will be the all-new Creta SUV.

The significantly modified Creta will have a new look, a new turbocharged petrol mill, and Level 2 ADAS capabilities. Upon launch, the redesigned SUV will go up against the Honda Elevate, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the MG Astor, the Kia Seltos, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Apart from Level 2 ADAS, new upholstery, a revised centre console and dashboard, and an enhanced 360-degree camera are among the interior highlights of the upcoming Creta. To further boost the tech factor, the 2024 iteration of the Hyundai model might come with an entirely digital driver's display. 

Coming to the mechanical specs, the company is anticipated to continue offering the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and diesel engine choices as the outgoing vehicle. A new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will, however, be available, mated to either a seven-speed DCT unit or a six-speed manual gearbox. There will also be a CVT, automatic torque converter, and six-speed iMT gearbox options.
