Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has significantly expanded its Ultra-High-Speed Public Electric Vehicle Charging Network across key Indian roadways and cities. The network now encompasses eleven ultra-fast charging stations, each equipped with three charging points: one unit each of DC 150 kW, DC 60 kW, and DC 30 kW capacity. These stations are strategically located in six major cities, including Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurugram, and Bangalore, as well as along five major highway routes: Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat, and Mumbai-Nashik.
According to Hyundai, most of these chargers are open to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai owners and are active 24/7. Additionally, these charging stations will also offer a variety of facilities like restaurants and coffee shops. As for the price, the 30kW charger costs Rs 18 per unit, the 60kW charger costs Rs 21 per unit, and the fast 150kW charger costs Rs 24 per unit at these charging stations. These EV charging locations are conveniently listed on the manufacturer's myHyundai smartphone app. Importantly, the app maps over 2,900 charging locations, which include these fast chargers, and are accessible to all EV customers, regardless of whether they own a Hyundai vehicle or not.
In 2024, Hyundai plans to expand its DC charging station network by adding ten or more new locations. Additionally, the automaker has pledged to install 100 charging stations by 2027, as part of its agreement with the Tamil Nadu government, which was announced during the 2024 Global Investor Meet.
