Hyundai India has revealed that more than one thousand units of the Ioniq 5, its premium electric car, have been sold so far in the domestic market. This milestone was accomplished over five months after the brand announced sales of 500 units in July this year. Moreover, in less than two months after reservations commenced in December 2022, the electric crossover had garnered over 650 bookings. The electric car was then launched by the automaker at the 2023 edition of the Auto Expo held in January. At the time of launch, the model had a price tag of Rs 44.95 lakh, however, it was later increased to Rs 45.95 lakh. Both figures are ex-showroom. For those who are unaware, the Ioniq 5 is the carmaker's second EV offering in our country, following the Kona Electric. Here's a quick overview of the model's specs, features, and performance.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Design and Colour Options
The Ioniq 5 SUV has an elegant clamshell hood, unique parametric pixel LED headlamps, and a modern exterior with crisp lines and creases. Z-shaped character lines, flush door handles, and 20-inch alloy wheels with a parametric pixel pattern for better aerodynamics are the standout highlights of the car when viewed from the side. The LED tail lamps at the back of the vehicle maintain the parametric pixel design approach and the rear spoiler with LED high-mount stop lamp adds a sporty element.
Coming to the colour options, buyers can choose between a pool of three striking exterior hues - Gravity Gold Matte, Optic White, and Midnight Black Pearl.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Dimension Details
The dimensions of the electric crossover, which has been built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform, are 1,890mm in width, 1,625mm in height, and 4,635mm in length. Hyundai claims that the E-GMP design provides better high-speed stability, enhanced cornering capability, and improved driving dynamics. In addition, the electric car boasts an impressive 3,000mm wheelbase, which results in a large and spacious passenger space.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Battery Pack and Performance Details
In terms of mechanical details, a 72.6kWh battery and a permanent magnet synchronous motor with 216bhp of peak power and 350Nm of maximum torque are included with the Ioniq 5 EV. The ARAI-certified range of the model, according to the South Korean manufacturer, stands at 631-kilometre on a single charge. Furthermore, a 350kW DC fast charger can charge a vehicle from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in about 18 minutes; unfortunately, there aren't many of these chargers in the country. Apart from this, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology is another feature of the Ioniq 5, enabling the model to develop up to 3.6kW of power.

With two 12.3-inch panels for the instrument console and a touchscreen infotainment system, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is jammed with impressive features. In addition, it has an 8-speaker premium Bose sound system, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, a voice assistant, a motorised tailgate, Vehicle-2-Load (V2L) functionality, and more. The e-SUV also comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, ABS with EBD, engine parking brake, six airbags, and electronic stability control (ESC).

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Price and Market Rivals
Due to its local assembly, the Ioniq 5 from Hyundai carries a price tag of Rs 45.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Its sole direct competitor is the Kia EV6, but it also faces competition from the soon-to-be-launched Skoda Enyaq iV, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, and the BMW i4.
