Honda Elevate Makes Global Debut
The Honda Elevate, with which the automaker is making a comeback to the SUV market, was officially unveiled in India recently. Honda, however, is not a new entrant to the SUV market; its India lineup formerly included the CR-V and the BR-V. Bookings for the brand-new model will begin in July 2023, followed by its pricing announcement. The Global Small Car platform used by the Japanese company for developing the Honda City car also serves as the foundation for the Honda Elevate. The SUV's 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine produces 121bhp and 145Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels either through a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Additionally, the automaker announced that the Elevate will receive an electric powertrain in the next three years.
The SUV will compete against segment giants like the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos when it arrives around the festive season. The Honda Elevate's interior gets a 10.25-inch infotainment system, a 7.0-inch colour TFT, and Honda's Lanewatch technology. On top of that, it has features like automated climate control and wireless charging. Also included with the new Elevate is an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes lane-keep assistance, adaptive cruise control, and front collision warning. Price-wise, the upcoming SUV is expected to carry a sticker price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom).
