Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) announced its latest milestone of selling over 3 crore samples of the Activa in its 22nd year of operations. This was followed by strong sales figures released by the company. For the month of June 2023, the company sold 3,24,093 units in total. The manufacturer's domestic sales in June 2023 stood at 3,02,756 units, while its export numbers were closed at 21,337 units. Notably, the Honda Shine and the Activa were the major contributors to the company's sales growth. According to the two-wheeler manufacturer, the Active is the only scooter in the Indian market to cross the historic 3 crore sales mark in only 22 years. The scooter's journey spans over two decades, and in these years, the Activa has hit several milestones. Honda's best-selling scooter was first introduced in 2001 with a 100cc engine, and since then, the Activa has seen strong demand in India.
Currently, the Activa scooter is in its sixth generation in India and comes with Honda Smart Key. On the mechanical front, it continues with a 109.51cc, single-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable gearbox (CVT). As of now, the ex-showroom pricing for a Honda Activa ranges from Rs 75,347 for the base (Standard) model to Rs 81,348 for the top-tier (H-Smart) model.

Honda's Recent Launches
HMSI had an eventful month of June with the launch of 3 new OBD2-compliant products - the 2023 Dio, the Unicorn, and the Shine 125. Other than these, there is also an affordable version of the Shine in the country - the Honda Shine 100. Launched in March 2023, it is Honda's first 100cc motorcycle in the country, and it is aimed at rural and semi-urban markets. The pricing starts at Rs. 64,900 (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
In the international market, the two-wheeler manufacturer recently launched the 2024 iteration of the CB300R at a price tag of $5,149 (roughly Rs 4.22 lakh). The updated motorcycle gets two new colours - Pearl Dusk Yellow and Metallic Black. The rest of the bike remains the same. As far as our market is concerned, expect the 2024 version to go on sale later this year with a slight premium. For reference, the existing CB300R is available at Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom).

Honda's Upcoming Launches
Meanwhile, Honda is gearing up to launch a line-up of two-wheelers during 2023-24, including two new electric vehicles for the Indian market. So far, we don't know what would the two upcoming EVs be. However, speculations are rife that one of them will be based on the BS4 version of the Activa, while the other one will be the Honda EM1 e with a swappable battery. They will be equipped with domestically-manufactured motors, batteries, and power control units.
