Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has disclosed its EV roadmap for the country. The automaker is gearing up to launch the two new electric vehicles in FY2024 as part of "Project Vidyut." Honda hasn't confirmed the type of upcoming electric models yet, but market reports hint that one of the vehicles will be a low-speed, mid-range two-wheeler, and the other will be a scooter, featuring interchangeable batteries. EVs, especially in the scooter segment are steadily growing in the country. These vehicles are gaining traction in the market, and several automakers like Hero Motocorp, Bajaj, and TVS are producing them to suffice the needs of the environmentally-conscious citizens of the country. Honda is set to spread its wings in India's electric scooter category. It will compete with TVS, Bajaj, and other companies in India.

Honda 2W EV Strategy
The Honda 2W EV roadmap includes Factory E, Platform E, and Workshop E. Under the Factory E strategy, Honda will open an EV production plant in Narsapura, Karnataka, and produce 1 million EVs annually by 2030. According to the firm, advanced automation and 100% renewable energy will be used in the production process. Further, they will feature a high level of localization, including domestically obtained batteries and the PCUS. Moreover, Honda will design and produce the electric motor locally.
According to the roadmap, Honda's dedicated EV strategy is Platform E. This platform will feature electric two-wheelers with fixed and swappable batteries, powered by Honda Mobile Power Pack e technology. Last but not least, the Workshop E programme seeks to provide Honda's EV buyers with a positive ownership experience. It also includes outfitting the 6,000 touch points in the company's current dealership network with EV charging infrastructure, battery charging stations, and charging connections. With contact points at gas stations, subway stations, and other public areas across the nation, the firm is expected to offer battery options to buyers in India.

Honda 2W Future Plans
By the first part of FY2024, the automaker will install a new scooter assembly line with a 6 lakh unit annual capacity at its facility in Vithalapur, Gujarat. Further, it will make all its two-wheeler models comply with OBD-2 (onboard diagnostics). Additionally, the company will increase its export activities in the upcoming fiscal year to 58 countries with 20 models. Presently, the company with 18 models, ships to 38 nations. In a recent development, Honda will reportedly introduce a new 125cc scooter and a 160cc motorcycle in India. These vehicles with new names will likely mark their entry into our market in the coming three months.
