HMIL's Total Sales Down by 1.22% at 64,803 Units in June; H1 CY2024 Sees 5.68% Growth

Last month, Hyundai Motor India sold 64,803 units in total. This consists of 50,103 units sold domestically and 14,700 units exported to other regions of the world.

Hyundai Motor India, Hyundai Motor Group's Indian vehicle manufacturing division, has released its monthly sales figures. In June 2024, the company sold 64,803 units cumulatively. This consists of 50,103 units sold domestically and 14,700 units exported to other regions of the world, representing a year-on-year decline of 1.22 percent. In comparison, June 2023 saw Hyundai sell 65,601 units in total. 

On a close look, domestic sales figures reveal a year-on-year 0.20 percent increase last month, compared to June 2023. However, the domestic sales for H1 CY2024 (January–June 2024) witnessed a growth of 4.65 percent, with 3,09,772 units sold as opposed to 2,96,010 units during the same period last year. In terms of cumulative sales, Hyundai Motor India closed H1 CY2024 with 3.85,772 units, marking an increase of 5.68 percent year-on-year.

Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, 'We closed H1 of CY2024 with an overall sales growth of 5.68%
Year-on-Year. SUVs have contributed strongly, accounting for 66% of our domestic sales. The new Hyundai Creta has been a key driver for Domestic H1 sales with 91,348 units sold, a growth of 11% over the same period last year.'

As for exports, H1 CY2024 (76,000 units) reflected a significant growth of 10.11 percent compared to January–June 2023 when Hyundai shipped 69,020 units. However, Hyundai witnessed a weak export demand last month. It could only dispatch 14,700 units, in comparison to 15,600 units in June 2023. 

Hyundai Alcazar Surpasses 75,000 Unit Sales Milestone

In other news, Hyundai's flagship mid-size SUV – the Alcazar – crossed the 75,000-unit sales milestone last month in India, taking about three years to achieve. Hyundai additionally exported 27,176 units of the Alcazar to international markets. 

Launched in June 2021, the three-row Hyundai Alcazar is the company's fifth SUV to join the line-up, which also includes the Venue, Creta, Tucson, and Kona. Based on the Creta, the Alcazar gets two engine options: a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The former, which is mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT gearbox, develops 158bhp and 253Nm of peak torque, whereas the latter, paired with either a six-speed manual or an automatic torque converter unit, generates 113bhp and 250Nm of maximum torque.

Ranging between Rs 16.78 lakh and Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the SUV can be had in six variants: Prestige, Prestige (O), Platinum, Platinum (O), Signature, and Signature (O).
