Hero MotoCorp YoY Sales Decline 9.8% in June
Hero MotoCorp has revealed its sales figures for the past month. The automaker witnessed a significant decline in its overall sales. In the last month, the two-wheeler manufacturer also launched the new Hero Xtreme 160R 4V in India.
This year's June wasn't financially promising for Hero MotoCorp, as its sales, including year-over-year, month-over-month, and year-to-date, dropped significantly. In the last month, the two-wheeler maker registered total sales of 4,36,993 units, down from 4,84,867 vehicles in June 2022, representing a YoY drop of 9.8%. In the domestic segment, the automaker sold 4,22,757 units, an 8.7% decrease from 4,63,210 units delivered in the prior-year period. Further, exports totaled 14,236 units in June 2023, a significant fall from 21,657 units shipped at the same time last year. As compared to the last fiscal year, year-to-date numbers for FY2024 dropped as well. 13,52,574 units were sold cumulatively, a decrease from 13,90,193 units the previous year. Hero MotoCorp June 2023 Sales Data
Total domestic and foreign sales were 4,36,993 units in June 2023, representing a fall of 9.87% from 4,84,867 units sold in June 2022. The volume shrank by 47,874 units. From 5,19,474 units sold in May 2023, MoM sales experienced a 15.88% decline.
Moving to the segment-wise performance, domestic sales of motorcycles fell 12.34% to 4,04,474 units in June 2023, despite a favorable rise in scooter deliveries reported by the firm. From 4,61,421 units sold in June 2022, there was a 12.34% YoY decline in this number. Further, sales were also down 17.34% month over month as of May 2023, with 4,89,336 units sold. From 94.20% in May 2023, the motorcycle share reduced to 92.56% in June 2023. In FY 2024, when accounting for motorcycle YTD sales, there was a 3.34% decline to 12,62,640 units, which is lower than the 13,06,294 units sold in FY 2023.
Coming to Scooters' market performance, sales increased by 32,519 units, or 38.70% YoY, last month compared to the 23,446 units sold in June 2022. From the 30,138 units sold in May 2023, MoM sales rose 7.90% to maintain a 7.44% market share. In the first quarter of FY24, scooter sales grew 7.19% year-over-year to 89,934 units from 83,899 units sold the same time the previous year.
In all, 4,22,757 motorcycles and scooters were sold domestically in June 2023, a decline of 8.73% from the 4,63,210 motorcycles and scooters sold in the same month in 2022. Additionally, compared to the 5,08,309 units sold in May 2023, there was an MoM fall of 16.83%. Total domestic sales for the year-to-date dropped from 13,28,166 units sold in the FY23 period to 13,17,250 units sold in the FY24 period, registering a loss of 10,916 units, or 0.82%. Export-wise, from the 62,027 units sold in FY23, numbers fell drastically in FY24 by 43.05% to 35,326 units.

2023 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Launched in India
The two-wheeler automaker recently launched the new Xtreme 160R 4V in India. There are three versions of the bike: Standard, Pro, and Connected. The Connected and Pro variants cost Rs 1.33 lakh and Rs 1.36 lakh in India, which makes them more expensive than the Standard model, which retails at Rs 1.27 lakh in the market. All prices are ex-showroom.
