Hector SUV, ZS EV, and More Fuel MG Motor India's Retail Sales Growth to 25% in July

MG Motor India reported retail sales of 5,012 units in July, up 25 per cent year over year (YoY), from 4,013 units in the same month last year. The rapid sales growth reflects MG's effectiveness in increasing its market presence and gaining new customers.

MG Motor India reported retail sales of 5,012 units in July, up 25 per cent year over year (YoY) from 4,013 units in the same month last year. The rapid sales growth reflects MG's effectiveness in increasing its market presence and gaining new customers. MG's year-over-year growth has been exceptional, but it's crucial to note that sales, did slightly fall from June to July 2023. Seasonal variations, transient market conditions, or other elements impacting customer behaviour may have had an impact on the MoM differential of -2.13 per cent. The MoM sales decreased by 109 units. According to a statement from the company, recent severe weather conditions and flooding in several areas of the country significanty influenced the retail sales.

MG Clocks 21% Sales Growth in H1 2023

MG Motor India recorded 29,000 domestic sales in the first half of 2023. In H1 2023, the company recorded a 21% rise in sales compared to 24,000 units sold in the same month the prior year. According to the carmaker, the MG ZS EV and the 2023 MG Hector SUV both contributed significantly to the increase in sales. The brand also recorded its highest-ever retail sales of 6,051 units in March 2023. Meanwhile, the company intends to invest $100 million in expanding capacity at its current factory in Halol, Gujarat and diversifying its product line to include more electric vehicles. 

With 115,000 units exported to the European market, the sales increased by 143% year on year. Besides, in the first half of 2023, MG's NEVs accounted for 50% of total sales. With over 830 locations, the brand is available in 28 European countries. Significantly, MG has delivered more than 20,000 automobiles each month for four consecutive months, confirming its dominance in the European auto market.

2023 ZS EV: Battery Pack, Features, and More

The British carmaker launched the updated ZS EV with ADAS Suite last month for Rs 27.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new MG ZS EV's Autonomous Level 2 (ADAS) system increases passenger safety and the driving experience by offering three levels of sensitivity: low, medium, and high, as well as three levels of warning: haptic, audio, and visual. The ADAS package includes Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Speed Assist System (SAS). Furthermore, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Functions are designed to reduce driver fatigue. 

The ZS EV has a 461-kilometre driving range on a single charge, due to its 50.3kWh advanced prismatic battery, which gives it a futuristic design and wide SUV stance. The prismatic battery boasts one of the best real-world ranges in its class and an 8-year battery warranty. The ZS EV's 8-layer hairpin motor delivers 174bhp of maximum power and gets the vehicle from 0 to 100km/h in about 8.5 seconds. The car has three driving modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport.

Speaking of features, the EV includes more than 75 connected car capabilities, including the industry's first digital key, which allows you to lock, unlock, start, and even drive the vehicle without the use of a physical key. Moreover, the SUV features a segment-leading 10.1-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, as well as a fully digital instrument panel with a 7-inch integrated LCD screen. In terms of safety, the MG ZS EV has a first-in-segment 360-degree around view camera with rear parking sensors as well as Hill Descent Control (HDC), another class-leading feature. The vehicle is equipped with six airbags (dual, front, side, and curtain), as well as a hill-start assist, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and other safety systems.

The ZS EV comes standard with full LED Hawkeye headlights and LED taillamps. Additionally, it is available in three trim levels: Excite, Exclusive, and Exclusive Pro. The wheels are R17 Tomahawk hub design alloy. Customers can choose from four colour options: Glaze Red, Aurora Silver, Starry Black, and Candy White.
