Groupe PSA kicks off the infrastructure proceedings for Citroen's 2020 debut with the establishment of a new India Technical Centre.
After officially debuting the Citroen brand in India a few months ago, Groupe PSA has taken the next step to show its continued commitment towards the Indian market by inaugurating a new technical centre in Chennai. Titled the India Technical Centre, it has been opened by PCA Motors India Pvt Ltd, a PSA Group company and is located in Chennai One, a part of the Chennai Special Economic Zone.
The new centre will act as a central hub for PSA India's forthcoming operations and will play host to several departments like Research & Development, Programs & Projects, Global Purchasing Hub, Supply Chain, Process & Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, etc. Interestingly, Groupe PSA's technical partner, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), is also located in the same zone, thereby maximising efficiency between the workings of the two partners.
Sharing his thoughts on the technical centre, Emmanuel Delay, Executive VP & Head (India-Pacific) at Groupe PSA said, 'The new India Technical Centre is an important step for the development of Groupe PSA in India, and is definitely an asset to grow the Group’s business in the India & Pacific region. This is part of our strategy to develop a global network of state-of-the-art technical centre, strategically positioned in India, to support a customer-oriented agenda...our investment in ITC further emphasizes the importance of India to our global business.'
As part of an elaborate future expansion plan, PSA India also intends to introduce a workshop at the Chennai Technical Centre, meant to facilitate the styling, architecture and assembly of prototypes.
