In light of the Coronavirus lockdown in the country, Tata Motors has extended its warranty and service plans for customers till July 31, 2020.
As the country is in a state of a complete lockdown till 14th April 2020, Tata Motors has decided to give their existing customers a breather by extending the warranty period and free service period for their products. The company released a statement earlier today confirming the extension of the periodic maintenance and warranty plans.
The warranty and service extension will be available for customers whose warranty and free service was due to expire between March 15, 2020, and May 31, 2020. The date has now been extended to July 31, 2020. Keep in mind, the extended service period won’t be applicable in case a vehicle has already exceeded the kilometres limit. For instance, if it’s a yearly / 10,000km service, and you’ve already exceeded the 10,000km mark after the last service but it's hasn't been a year from the date of the previous service, you won’t be able to avail the extended service plan.
Commenting on the development, Subhajit Roy, Senior General Manager & Head Customer Care, Tata Motors, said, ‘In light of the Central Government imposed lockdown due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the resultant inability of our customers to avail maintenance & repairs as part of their vehicle’s warranty policy, Tata Motors has decided to extend the last date for customers whose OE warranty and free service period (not km) are due to expire between 15th March 2020 and 31st May 2020 to 31st July 2020. This decision validates the proactive response towards customer-centric values that we at Tata Motors live by every day.’
Tata Motors isn’t the only carmaker that has extended their service and warranty periods due to the current Coronavirus lockdowns. Hyundai India has also announced that they’ll extend their service and warranty plans by 2 months to customers who couldn’t get their cars serviced or claim warranty because of the lockdown.
