Continental's SupRim technology helps enhance tyres' durability and retreading throughout their lifetime.
German marque Continental Tyres has brought its Conti SupRim technology to the Indian market. In essence, using this technology, Continental has re-engineered the rim strip compound of its radial tyres to enhance the tyre bead flexibility, strength, and tear resistance. All this translates into better reusability of the tyres and, therefore, lower ownership costs. The Conti SupRim technology is now incorporated into all radial tyres manufactured at the brand's facility in Modipuram, Meerut.
Continental claims that this tech has been developed specifically for customers in the Asia-Pacific markets, like India, where fleet operators and owners turn to mounting, demounting, and retreading of tyres to maximise their utilisation. In conventional tyres, the bead durability tends to deteriorate by up to 75% by the end of its first life cycle. In the case of Conti SupRim, though, this decline is recorded to be around 18%.
Continental also claims the SupRim technology makes their tyres relatively easier to unmount and remount, thanks to enhanced bead flexibility of the rim strip compound.
