Ceat does its bit for road safety with an innovative measure to curb drink and drive.

If you don’t already know then it is worth reminding that drunken driving is one of the major traffic nuisances around the world. India is no different in that regard since road accidents caused due to intake of alcohol have been on the rise in the country lately. So, in an effort to keep tabs on drunk drivers, Ceat tyres and Mumbai Police have installed breath analyzers across various pubs in Mumbai. These devices will help people identify their state of inebriation so that they can decide – on their own, that is - if they are legally allowed to drink and drive. As per the company, it will install more breath analyzers across different pubs and lounges in the country.

At the moment, these breath analyzers have been installed in major pubs like Monkey Bar, Elbo Room, Escobar, Bora Bora, I bar, Marine Plaza, Khar Social and Corniche in Mumbai. The breath analyzers at these places work exactly like a standard device, albeit it works without any cops around as is generally the case. The device will analyse & inform the user if they have reached the maximum permissible limit to drive a vehicle.

Commenting on the launch of the initiative, Mr. Nitish Bajaj, Head of Marketing, Ceat Tyres, said, “Through the Breathalyzers, we aim to engage and sensitize people on the benefits of safe driving.  We believe this initiative is an important step that help them take an informed decision before they take the wheel. Initiatives like this are a vital part in our vision of making mobility safer and smarter every day.”

Additionally, Ceat has also partnered up with Party Hard Drivers (PHD), a Mumbai and Pune-based chauffeur’s service, to help stop inebriated people from driving. The company has also launched an awareness campaign on the initiative across multiple digital platforms.
