Bridgestone launches sub-brand Firestone in India. In the initial phase. Firestone tyres will only be available for passenger cars and SUVs.
Earlier this month, Bidgestone announced its entry into the two-wheeler segment under the brand Neurun for motorcycles and scooters. Although this has been on the cards for a while and is surely a huge leap forward for the brand, keeping in mind the sheer size of the Indian two-wheeler market. This new venture comes with zero impact on the passenger car segment where Bridgestone’s focus continues to remain undeterred. The company has now introduced its Firestone range of tyres in India.
For those less aware, Bridgestone acquired the Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company of Akron Ohio in 1988 and since then the brand has been an integral part of the company's portfolio. Some might even recollect Firestone as the title sponsor of the renowned IndyCar Series. The Firestone range is already on sale in USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Columbia and is now available in India.
For the Indian market, Firestone will be initially focusing only in passenger car and SUV segments. Tyres for passenger cars will be sold under FR500 series, whereas SUV tyres will fall under the Destination LE02 range. The former will have 24 sizes for 12-inch to 16-inch rim dia, while the latter will be made available in 3 sizes for 15-inch and 16-inch rim dia.
The Firestone FR500 range will start at Rs 2,200 while the Destination LE02 tyres will retail from Rs 5,500 onwards. Most of the tyres have already been put on sale through Bridgestone's dealer network across the country. Firestone branded stores will also be launched in India from next year, confirmed Bridgestone.
