Maruti Suzuki India has announced that its total sales in June increased by 12 per cent to over 1.79 lakh units. According to a statement from the brand, in the same month the previous year, it had dispatched more than 1.59 lakh units to its dealers. Maruti Suzuki also stated that the total domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales last month stood at about 1.37 lakh units, up 3 per cent from 1.33 lakh units in the same month the previous year. Sales of mini-segment cars, including the Alto and S-Presso, fell to 9,395 units last month from 14,054 units in June 2023. Read on to learn more.

Maruti Suzuki Sales: June 2024
The sales of compact cars, such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR, were 64,049 units last month in comparison to 64,471 units in the same month last year. Compared to 43,404 units sold last June, sales of utility cars, which comprise the Brezza, Ertiga, S-Cross, and XL6, were 52,373 units in June 2024. While sales of light commercial vehicles Super Carry were 2,758 units last month compared to 2,992 units in the same period last year, Eeco sales were 10,771 units last month compared to 9,354 units in June of last year. According to Maruti Suzuki India, its exports for last month were 31,033 units, up from 19,770 units in the same month the previous year.
Maruti Suzuki Swift Surpasses 30 Lakh Unit Sales Milestone in India
In India, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has surpassed the 30-lakh sales mark. The hatchback, currently in its fourth generation, has reached this milestone in 19 years, having first gone on sale in 2005. The car reached 25 lakh sales in September 2021, taking less than three years to sell 5 lakh units in the country. It is one of the best-selling models in India. Despite an influx of budget-friendly SUVs in recent years, the Swift remains one of the top hatchback options.

Mechanically, the Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine powering the Swift delivers 112Nm of peak torque at 4,300rpm and 80bhp of maximum power at 5,700rpm. A five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox is mated to the engine. In terms of mileage, the manual version achieves 24.8km/l, while the automatic version offers 25.75km/l.
