Fronx Becomes the Fastest Car to Achieve 1 Lakh Unit Sales Mark
In other news, Maruti Suzuki recently announced that the Fronx SUV has become India's fastest passenger car to exceed one lakh sales. The crossover, which launched in April of last year and is based on the Baleno hatchback, has clocked this remarkable milestone in about 10 months. It is worth noting that around 9,000 of these units have been delivered to countries in Latin America and Africa, with the remainder sold domestically.
The model presently has a 12 per cent market share in the popular subcompact SUV class, which has helped the company gain a huge 30 per cent market share. Automatic models have contributed a bigger 24 per cent share of overall SUV sales, with CNG variants accounting for 20 per cent. However, just 7 per cent of the Fronx's overall market sales come from the more expensive turbo models.
With the same underpinnings as the Baleno hatchback, the Fronx is available for purchase in five variants: Sigma, Delta, Delta Plus, Zeta, and Alpha. Interested buyers can bring this SUV home with either a manual or automatic gearbox and one of two petrol engine options: a 1.2-litre NA petrol or a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill. Speaking of price, the model currently retails for between Rs 7.47 lakh and Rs 13.14 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).
