Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG Crosses 5,000 Unit Sales Milestone in 2 Months
The last 637 units of the Bajaj Freedom 125 were sold in just 4 days of September 2024, up from 4,109 units delivered in August.
The Bajaj Freedom 125, the world's first CNG bike launched in July 2024, has crossed the 5,000-unit sales mark in India. The last 637 units were sold in a matter of just 4 days this month, up from 4,109 units delivered in August. This is attributed to the fact that Bajaj had expanded the Freedom 125's sales network to 77 towns and cities across India by August 15, including Delhi and Kerala. The bike was initially available in Maharashtra and Gujarat – both with robust CNG infrastructure – only. The rest of the total 5,018 units (Vahan data) were made available to the buyers in the last two weeks of July.
The deliveries of the Bajaj Freedom 125 began on July 18, with the first unit (top-end variant) being delivered to a customer in Pune. Speaking of variants, the Freedom 125 comes in three variants: Drum, Drum LED, and Disc LED. All three are the same when it comes to engine specs, range, and tank capacity, but they vary in terms of colours.

Powering the CNG bike is a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which can run on either the CNG or the petrol model at the flick of a switch. The engine churns out 9bhp and 9.7Nm of peak torque when mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The claimed mileage on CNG is 102km/kg, while the petrol version returns a 65km/l claimed mileage, while the top is rated at 90.5km/h on CNG. The petrol version has a top speed of 93.4km/h (claimed).
Chassis-wise, the Freedom 125 features a tubular trellis frame, which also doubles as a protective cage around the CNG tank. For suspension, the bike uses a telescopic front fork and a linked rear monoshock, while the braking setup comprises drum brakes at both ends. The top-spec variant, however, comes with a disc brake at the front. The Bajaj Freedom 125 is the latest entrant in the commuter class, with an LED headlamp (in the top-spec variant), a 785mm-long single-piece seat (longest in the segment), mid-set footpegs, an upswept exhaust, and braced handlebars. The seat height is 825mm, while the kerb weight stands at 149kg.
