Bajaj Auto Domestic 2W Sales Decline 19% Year-on-Year in December

In December 2024, Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles fell 15% to 1.62 lakh units, while exports rose 18% to 1.61 lakh units.

Bajaj Auto's total sales reached 3.23 lakh units in December 2024, showing a slight 1% decline from last year’s 3.27 lakh units. Talking about two-wheelers, domestic sales saw a drop of 19%, reaching 1.28 lakh units. However, exports delivered a stellar performance, soaring by 15% to hit 1.44 lakh units. All in all, Bajaj Auto sold 2.72 lakh two-wheelers, reflecting a 4% dip from 2.83 lakh units sold in the same month last year.

In contrast to two-wheelers, Bajaj's commercial vehicles saw impressive growth across the board. While domestic sales saw a modest 5% increase to 34,085 units in December 2024, exports surged by a remarkable 50%, reaching 16,867 units. The total sales stood at 50,952 CVs, a 16% year-on-year growth.

Bajaj Auto YTD Sales

From April 2024 to December 2024, Bajaj Auto recorded year-on-year growth across both its two-wheeler and commercial vehicle segments. In the two-wheeler category, the company sold 30.39 lakh units, an 8% increase over the 28.11 lakh units sold in the same period last year. Exports accounted for 12.32 lakh units, while domestic sales reached 18.07 lakh units, showing growths of 11% and 6%, respectively.

Bajaj Auto's commercial vehicle division also experienced remarkable growth between April and December 2024. Exports increased by 21% to 1.42 lakh units, while domestic sales rose by 4% to 3.67 lakh units. During this time, Bajaj sold 5.09 lakh commercial vehicles overall, showing an 8% rise from the previous year.

Total sales for both two-wheelers and commercial vehicles reached 35.48 lakh units between April and December 2024. Of this, 21.74 lakh units were sold domestically, while 13.74 lakh units were exported, reflecting year-on-year growth of 6% and 12%, respectively.

Other Highlights

Bajaj launched the new 35 Series of the Chetak electric scooter in India last month. The series has three variants: the 3501, 3502, and 3503. The Chetak 3502 retails for Rs 1.20 lakh, while the 3501 variant is priced at Rs 1.27 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom, Bangalore. The price of the 3503 variant is yet to be disclosed.
