In times of crisis, automobile manufacturers have always provided support initiatives. Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Callum Designs have come up with a unique way to assist in during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The gravity of the coronavirus crisis has been recognised and acknowledged, and India is taking drastic steps to limit its spread. International borders have been sealed, suspected patients are being put under a 14-day quarantine, and, above all, the government has declared a complete lockdown for 21 days. Let’s face it, it might just get extended too. But during this time, the indirect impact of social distancing on mental health is simply flying under the radar. Staying occupied by taking up an activity that you can do at home is the key.
Thankfully, some automobile manufacturers are stepping up to ensure just that. Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Callum Designs have released online colouring books on their official website that you can download and print. You can get back to colouring and relive your childhood memories, or if you are an enthusiast, this is also a great way to get your kids exposed to the automotive world.
While some brands are taking steps towards addressing mental stress, others are committed to relieving financial stress. TVS Motor Company and Sundaram-Clayton Ltd. have promised to spend Rs 30 crore to support the nationwide efforts to reduce the spread of the deadly virus. Speaking about the same, Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company, said, '’Our priority is to help the government efforts to contain and mitigate the effects of this pandemic. We will continue to do what we can for the community and people, as we have done in our 100-year history.'
The funds contributed will be used for manufacturing and supplying support systems, like masks, and cooked meals for frontline healthcare workers and police officers. Ten tractors with disinfectant spray have already been given to the Hosur Municipal Corporation in Tamil Nadu.
MG Motor and its employees have promised to contribute Rs 2 crore for the government hospitals and health institutions in Gurugram and Halol.
