Aston Martin signed a new deal and announced a technical partnership with Mercedes-AMG. This deal will see Aston Martin access Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz resources. This means that it’ll get the supply of bespoke V8 engines, and the use of some electric/electronic architecture.

Aston Martin says that the new partnership with Mercedes-AMG will help launch a new generation of models. There is mathematics to this deal though which means that Daimler will in turn own a stake of up to 5% non-voting shares in Aston Martin, thus joining the existing Aston Martin shareholders Investment DAR, Adeem Investment, and Investindustrial.

Aston product development director, Ian Minards, said, "Working with AMG in this way, while, of course, remaining independent and preserving the unique character and style of Aston Martin that has been the mainstay of the company throughout its 100-year history, points to a very bright future for the company as it starts its second century in business."

Ola Källenius, Head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH further said, "We are proud to work with Aston Martin and provide them with powertrain and e/e components for their forthcoming sports cars. This is proof of AMG's technological.

As always, we'll have more on this story as it breaks but till then imagine what Mercedes-AMG can do to Aston Martin and have sweet dreams of roaring V8 engines and the cars that might come out of this union of the ‘Two Towers
