Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today announced the sales tally for the month of February 2023, with a total of 1,72,321 units sold, including 150,823 units sold domestically, 4,291 units sold to other OEMs, and 17,207 units exported. According to the country's largest automaker, the shortage of electronic components had only a minor impact on domestic vehicle production. The S-Presso and the Alto together recorded 21,875 units in the mini segment, outpacing 19,691 units and growing by 11.9 per cent year on year. A total of 79,898 units of compact cars, including the Baleno, the Celerio, the Dzire, the Ignis, the Swift, the Tour S, and the WagonR, were registered in February, up from 77,795 units with a positive year-on-year (YoY) sales increase of 2.7 per cent.

The Ciaz reported 792 units as opposed to 1,912 units, representing a year on year (YoY) decline of 58.57 per cent. In February 2023, the UV range, which consists of the Brezza, the Ertiga, the XL6, and the Grand Vitara, sold a total of 33,550 domestic units, up from 25,360 units during the same period in 2022, a YoY increase of 32.29 per cent.
The launch of the brand-new Grand Vitara and the fourth-generation Brezza has undoubtedly contributed to an increase in market share for SUVs. Sales of the Maruti Suzuki Eeco increased by 23.52 per cent to 11,352 units from 9,190 units. The Super Carry LCV saw a YoY decrease of 8.28 per cent with 3,356 units sold as opposed to 3,659 units last year.
The total domestic sales of 1,50,823 units represented a 9.60 per cent YoY increase over the 1,37,607 unit sales tally in February 2022. When domestic sales, exports, and Toyota supply were combined, total sales were 1,72,321 units as opposed to 1,64,056 units, representing a 5.03 per cent increase year on year.

In April 2023, the auto manufacturer will launch the much-anticipated Fronx compact SUV coupe, which will be followed by the Maruti Suzuki Jimny five-door in May/June. Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its SUV lineup with the debut of the seven-seater Grand Vitara in a few years, followed by the production-spec eVX in 2025.
