Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) delivered a total of 4,83,100 units in July 2024, representing a YoY increase of 43% YoY driven by domestic (4,39,118 units) and export (43,982 units) segments. While local deliveries surged by a significant 41% last month, overseas shipments rose by 60% over the same month in 2023. In addition to strong sales, the company sold 50 lakh units in Tamil Nadu since June 2001, marking a noteworthy milestone. It also opened new BigWing dealerships in Hooghly (West Bengal), Ongole (Andhra Pradesh), and Burdwan (West Bengal). Read on to know further developments of the company.

HMSI Key Developments
HMSI conducted awareness campaigns in 11 Indian cities, including Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu), Rajkot (Gujarat), Jaipur (Rajasthan), Tezpur (Assam), Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh), Thane (Maharashtra), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Shirdi (Maharashtra), Patna (Bihar), and Dehradun (Uttarakhand), to raise awareness of road safety in the country. It also commemorated the eighth anniversary of its Traffic Training Park in Ludhiana (Punjab). As part of its ongoing initiative, Mindset Development for Our Future Generation, the company collaborated with Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) school principals to arrange a Road Safety Convention.
Is Honda's Activa all set to Go Green?
The Activa from Honda is one of the best-selling scooters in India. While there has been no official confirmation, an electric version of this marvel is rumoured to be under development. Although the exact specifications are currently unknown, the e-scooter is likely to borrow some styling cues from its standard counterpart. Honda is expected to equip the scooter with a battery that'll be more geared toward maximizing range rather than high acceleration and top speed.

Price-wise, the Honda Activa Electric may cost approximately Rs 1.10 lakh. It will compete with models such as the Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Air, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Hero Vida V1 Pro.
