Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) saw a 45% YoY growth in April, with 5,41,946 units sold in total. The company supplied 4,81,046 units domestically and 60,900 units internationally, representing a 42% and 67% year-on-year increase, respectively. Its sales growth can be ascribed to some of the best-selling models, which include Activa, Dio, and Shine.
In March 2024, HMSI reported sales of 3,86,455 units, indicating an 82% year-over-year increase. Of this, domestic sales stood at 3,58,151 units and exports at 28,304 units, with year-over-year growth of 81% and 95% respectively. Let's look at other developments of the company in the last month.

Some Key Developments in April 2024
With an emphasis on CKD (Completely Knocked Down) exports, HMSI inaugurated a brand-new, cutting-edge engine assembly line at its Global Resource Factory in Manesar, Gurugram, (Haryana). The new assembly line has a solid production capability of 600 engines per day, with capacities ranging from 110cc to 300cc for an extensive range of models.
In addition, the company celebrated selling a total of eighty lakh units in Eastern India, comprising locations such as Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and North-East India. It also established BigWing dealerships in Thane, Maharashtra, New Delhi, and Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, to extend its network. Additionally, it opened a Red Wing dealership in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.
Upcoming Launches
In 2024, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) intends to launch the Activa electric variant. The Honda Activa Electric will reportedly have a 50km/h top speed and a fixed battery configuration. It will be followed by another electric scooter designed on a new platform, and featuring a swappable battery setup.
