Windsor EV is the Name of the Upcoming MG Electric Car in India, Here’s What to Expect

MG India has officially named Windsor EV for its upcoming electric car. However, it is known as the Cloud EV in the international market. The MG electric car will compete with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400.

MG Motor India is set to introduce the Windsor EV, a new electric vehicle that combines sedan and SUV attributes, to its domestic lineup. Internationally known as the Cloud EV, the Windsor EV is currently undergoing rigorous testing and will be positioned between the Comet and ZS EV. The global model offers two battery options: a 37.9kWh pack providing a range of 360km and a 50.6kWh pack with a range of up to 460km. Both variants are equipped with a 132bhp front-axle-mounted electric motor. While specific details for the Indian market have not been released, it is anticipated that MG will offer the 50.6kWh battery option.

The MG Windsor caters to consumers who seek best of both worlds – comfort of a sedan and the expanse of an SUV.'

MG Windsor EV: Dimensions and Design

The upcoming MG Windsor EV boasts a distinctive profile. It's wider and taller than the MG ZS EV, measuring in at 1,850mm and 1,652mm respectively, though slightly shorter at 4,295mm. However, its standout feature is the significantly longer wheelbase of 2,700mm compared to the ZS EV's 2,585mm, promising ample interior space.

Design-wise, the Windsor EV is expected to adopt a modern aesthetic with prominent elements like a broad air dam, integrated spoiler, and sleek LED lighting, including split headlamps and a full-width DRL. Riding on 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/55-section tyres, the international model showcases a sporty stance. While official confirmation is awaited, the Indian variant is likely to retain these design cues.

MG Cloud EV: Price and Rivals 

The MG Windsor EV will be strategically positioned between the compact Comet and the larger ZS EV in MG's Indian electric vehicle lineup. With an anticipated price range of Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), the Windsor EV is set to compete directly with the popular Tata Nexon EV, marking a significant entry point for MG in the highly competitive compact electric SUV segment.
