The new Volvo XC40 Recharge was launched in India in July for ₹55.90 lakh. The firm claims an incredible response to its EV, with bookings for 150 cars registered within hours of commencing order books on July 27th.
Volvo Car India recently launched the XC40 Recharge, the only luxury e-SUV assembled in India. The first unit of the car has now rolled out of Volvo's Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, and the first batch of 150 units will be delivered to buyers by the end of 2022. This is a significant step towards the company's goal of turning into an all-electric firm by 2030. The first XC40 Recharge was flagged off by Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, in the presence of Pascal Kusters, Car Plant Head of Volvo Car India, and other members of the plant team.
Commenting on the occasion, Malhotra said, 'We had in May this year announced that we would commence local assembly of our all-electric offering the XC40 Recharge and today we witnessed the first car rolling off the assembly line at our Hoskote plant near Bengaluru, Karnataka. Historic as this is, today’s event further strengthens our commitment to offering the Indian market a new electric model yearly. The rollout is also a step in the right direction towards our goal of becoming an all-electric company by 2030.'
The XC40 Recharge has dual electric motors that produce 402bhp and 660Nm. A 78kWh battery pack powers the motors. It gives the SUV a stated range of 418 kilometres. The power is distributed to all four wheels, and the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. Its powertrain supports fast charging up to 150kW, allowing it to charge the battery from 0 to 80% in 40 minutes.
